Public Vs Private Medical Institutions

Everybody needs of Medicare some day in their life. We have to go to hospitals for some illnesses, accidents, dental problems, etc. There are two different kinds of institutions. “Public and private” Which is the best? Some people prefer to go to private hospitals, but others can’t have this kind of service because it’s expensive and they can’t afford it. “Evidence suggests that patients prefer and are satisfied with specific private services, and poor and wealthy alike use private health care. However, little empirical evidence has demonstrated that strategies to increase the role of the private sector have achieved public policy goals”. (Public and private prenatal care providers in urban Mexico: how does their quality compare?, May 4, 2006, retrieve from November 15, 2010, http://intqhc.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/full/18/4/306). There are several differences between these two services, like the way they treat patients, timetables and equipment.

Health care in Mexico is delivered through social security institutes, Ministry of Health and related government facilities, and private facilities. In addition, the fist difference among these institutions is the way they take care of patients. In public hospitals, some nurses and workers don’t treat in a good way some people who go there; maybe because they have a lot of work and their salary is very low, so they don’t worry about patients, they just do their job when is necessary. On the other hand, private institutions are very different. There, people are kind and treat well to their patients, they have a better salary and there aren’t many patients in those hospitals, because of that, private services are better than public services.

“Technology have been advanced in the past 100 years particularly in medicine field, initially technology is used for treatments and preventing diseases. Today technology

used for every aspect of medicine even in collection of patients files, making surgeries and diagnosing diseases. The important of technology in every field of technology to fascinate the problems that doctors face during the surgeries and analyze type of sickness”. (The Effect Of Technology On Health, retrieve from November 15, 2010, http://www.peerpapers.com/essays/Effect-Technology-Health/147997.html?read_essay).

Another reason why there are differences in these two institutions is equipment. Unfortunately, public institutions don’t have the necessary equipment that some sick people need, so they have to go to private hospitals to care of them. Therefore, people who always have the possibility to go private institutions don’t have this problem and they have the necessary attention in whatever kind of illness they have. So they don’t have to go from one place to another.

“There are two main factors that determine the demand for medical care. The first is the patient factor. This includes a patient’s health status, demographic characteristics and economic status. The second is the physician factor. This is an interesting topic because it introduces the principal (patient)-agent (physician) problem. We are faced with the problem of diminishing marginal returns for health. At a certain point, we can only produce so much health”. (Demand For Medical Care, August 12, 2009, retrieve from November 15, 2010, http://www.123helpme.com/preview.asp?id=61801). Then a similarity between these two institutions is that both look for human health and heal any disease, and they have the same objective which is help to the patient and patient’s family. They should give a dignified care and kind

In conclusion, these two kinds of service are very different. All people have gone once there and they have lived the differences, so I think that public hospitals should improve their service in benefit of our society, because one day their relatives can need of this service. On the other hand, private institutions should be cheaper for people with less money. Everybody has the right to receive good attention.
